Academic and speed reading skills can help you get through a heavy reading load, remember what you read longer, and keep you from getting bogged down by details.
As a student in English Literature and History, I spent quite a bit of time reading and analyzing text, but when I began using speed-reading techniques, my reading speeds shot up (from 450 words a minute to over 900) and my ability to glean and retain information increased.
In my Academic Reading Course, I cover the skills I wish I had mastered before college, and teach you how to:
• find important information and weed out filler
• increase your reading speed without compromising comprehension
• quickly analyze an author’s argument
• retain important information with minimal note-taking
The course runs for four two-hour sessions.
