Reiki As My Teacher

Reiki As My Teacher

Most seekers are familiar with the expression "When the student is ready, the teacher will come."  I'm not even sure how I first heard of Reiki. I guess *it* found me, as these things often do. I felt drawn to it, curious if it could help with my particular spiritual pursuit at the time. After doing an internet search of practitioners, I contacted one just by following my gut instinct.

Upon stepping into the practitioner's home, I felt an immediate and unmistakable buzz of energy. Throughout my first treatment I felt a rush and flow of energy moving throughout my body. When it was done I felt both relaxed and energized - open and in tune with the world. I returned once more for another treatment with similar results, although truly each Reiki treatment is unique, depending upon what you need at the time.

Becoming a Reiki master teacher was a beautiful experience.  It is a great joy to share reiki with sincere students.  I hope many more people will be committed to working with Reiki on this level.

I have moved several times since I first started Reiki.  I now live in Austin, TX. Each place I live provides new opportunities for growth and insight. I am thankful for my experiences in other cities.  I am happy to have experienced the unique energy of each of these places. Of course, Reiki is my constant companion. Regardless of where I find myself, I know I can trust its presence.

In the time between my Reiki II and becoming a Reiki Master, I studied many spiritual healing techniques. I am certified in a number of healing methods. While I still use some of these techniques for people from time to time, in the end, the simplicity of Reiki draws me back.

At first it may be surprising to some that such a gentle, uncomplicated and non-invasive approach can be powerfully healing and beneficial on so many levels - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. In fact, I believe Reiki's simplicity enhances its effectiveness. It creates a stronger and purer focus for the energy.

The fact that the practitioner is only the conduit for the energy through their laying on of hands makes it easier for the practitioner to release their  ego's need to control the healing or to direct it in any way. This clears the path to allow Spirit to do its work.

Non-attachment to results is one of the biggest lessons Reiki has taught me.  We are so used to having to work hard to make things happen and making sure we do it the "right way."  It is such a joy just to set my intention and then allow the result to happen.  Life doesn't have to be hard.  It can flow effortlessly.

In this way, Reiki is my teacher. Every moment it offers its gift
unfailingly, unconditionally. It humbles me, helps me tap into a greater source to share this experience with others.
