About School

We started our fitness journey in the early 1980's teaching group exercise in rented gymnasium space in Seattle. Our programs were at the University of Washington, Seattle University, and Lincoln High School with hundreds of participants. At that time, most people knew very little about the benefits of exercise, proper nutrition, or injury prevention. People still thought weight training would make women look like men, coaches thought athletes would get muscle bound, doctors did not recommend weight training saying it would give people heart attacks, "Aerobics" was considered a passing craze, and personal training as an occupation was non existent. Whether it is better to exercise this way or that way is still debated and quick fix, scam diets and pills still abound. We have the expertise to dispel the myths and misconceptions about fitness with real programs, with real results for real people.

We saw the need for knowledgeable and certified fitness professionals to lead safe and effective exercise classes and fitness training programs. Both Richard and Vickie Harrington were among the first IDEA (now ACE) certified instructors in the United States and Richard was the first International Dance and Exercise Association (IDEA) State Representative from Washington in 1984.

We also believed in affordable, flexible memberships at a facility that is well equipped and well maintained.
