In this class we will learn and create textured effects using watercolors. Students will learn ink, wax and pen resist, life off, mineral use, scuffling, spraying and using innovation textural materials just for watercolors! Some experience with watercolors is necessary.

Graduated from the School of Visual Arts and Fordham University. Majors in Science and Fine Arts, minored in Art Therapy. Received various teacher credits, honorary art, president, staff, awards and scholarships.

Georgetta has been teaching painting for over 20 years. Working on her charity Artist For Breast Cancer she continues to educate the public on awareness and prevention. She currently teaches art at Seattle Central Community College and Western Europe, (London and Italy). She also volunteers at the Ex. College. Her work has been exhibited worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In Seattle she is locally represented by the gallery Art Not Terminal. She has been featured on television and interviewed Boy George on his Italian Website, “Specialized in Loneliness”. Her picture is on the cover of Alberto Manguel’s, 2002 International best seller “Reading Pictures What We Think About When We Look At Art.” Her works are on file at The Women Museum of Arts, Washington, DC; Renaissance works are in collection of Saint James Cathedral, Seattle. Georgetta is currently writing and illustrating another art book.

She has taught art on many levels, in universities, colleges, preschools, private schools, and for the community. Her students range from college educators, business professionals, continuing education, and children.

PAINTING AND DRAWING ON LOCATION IN ITALY

Seattle Central Community College invites students to spend the summer painting and drawing in the birth of the Renaissance, Italy. Offering a non credit certificate class in painting and drawing for students, professionals, artist, beginners to advanced. Students will paint and draw on location, in the piazzas, Italian picturesque sites and museums of classical Italy. Course time is for 90 hours. Students desiring a certificate must register and pay tuition for the course at Seattle Central.

Painting and Drawing On Location in Italy
Instructor Georgetta Marie Gancarz

This course will provide a foundation in the fundamentals of drawing and watercolor design. Using various indoor and outdoor locations as our classroom students will sharpen their vision and perception by studying nature and the human figure. They will work to create unity through architectural organization of space and light and develop realistic rendering of one, two and three point perspectives in detail, using wet and dry brush, loose washes and the drawing process. Short and longer gesture exercises explore methods for achieving a likeness of the subject its contour, value, color, design, composition and texture. Students will draw and paint from landscapes, still lives, interiors and figures. Sessions will be augmented with classical traditions as well as the creative process. Students will work in pencil, charcoal, and watercolors. Sessions will end with an informal critique.

The object of the course is for students to experience Italy and its art on their own terms learning the techniques of drawing and watercolor on location.

PAINTING ON LOCATION IN LONDON/ENGLAND

Seattle Central Community College invites students to spend the summer painting and drawing in London, England. Offering a non credit certificate class in painting and drawing for students, professionals, artist, beginners to advanced. Students will paint and draw on location, in the city, British picturesque sites and the famous museums of royal London. Course time is for 90 hours. Students desiring a certificate must enroll and pay tuition for the course at Seattle Central.
