"Letterpress Printing"
Review of Bonnie Thompson Norman , September 16, 2008
This 2 day class was a great intro to letterpress printing. Bonnie teaches the basics of typesetting and printing in her home studio, which is full of wonderful equipment and an incredible library. Each student learns how to use both a flatbed and platen press. All students are given the opportunity to set their own type, ink up and print on both press types.
This class was fun and challenging! It left me with a greater appreciation of hand set type and printing in general. It was very helpful to see the process from beginning to end, including how to properly clean the press. Each session of the class creates a type sampler packet to take home. I hope to take other classes offered by Bonnie as she teaches other book arts classes.
