Description
Digital Audio is a high paced introduction to basic sound properties, the personal digital audio workstation, and exposure to advanced digital audio technology as used in professional audio facilities. The course is taught in a 25 station ProTools mbox lab (32 track capable) and also in multiple AIS Audio Studios, including a surround sound studio and a high-end music production room.
Students individually complete several small in class audio projects, each student on a ProTools LE mbox workstation. By the end of the seminar students will have a solid understanding of the ProTools interface and such topics including: session setup and file management, Edit and Mix window operation, basic digital audio editing techniques, ProTools track types, recording into an LE system, importing audio, backing-up sessions, signal and special effect processing in a digital environment, ProTools automation basics, and sound effect libraries introduction. Topics covered in the Audio Studios include: microphone basics, an introduction to ProTools HD systems and higher sample rate recording, digital audio control surfaces, basic 5.1 surround mixing, implementation of high-end audio production console with ProTools, critical listening, and analog signal processing.
