Description
This training method, which is for all breeds of dogs at least six months old, consists of a series of ten private lessons. It is structured so that the lessons will build one on another, the process enabling you to increase your ability to communicate effectively with your dog.
Why private lessons:
Some people feel that multiple-dog obedience classes provide a good place to "socialize" their dogs. Socialization with other dogs should be a very important part of any puppy class, but adult dog obedience training is not a time to have your dog distracted by other dogs or owners. What it should be instead is a time for your dog to learn to direct his attention to you.
Private obedience classes also allow trainer attention to be focused entirely on you and your dog. You don’t have to spend time waiting for someone else’s problems to be dealt with or wondering if you’re following a specific instruction correctly. Not only are you able to schedule appointments at times that work for you, but you’re able to make the most of the time you spend learning.
What is covered:
The ten lesson series should enable you to accomplish the following with your dog:
* three different ways of walking with your dog without him/her pulling on the leash or jumping up on you
* the down, the sit, the stay
* the finish: having your dog get into the heel position at your command
* the come: being able to have your dog come to you on your command without running from you
* the "don’t touch" command
* temporary and permanent boundaries – this includes teaching your dog not to enter or exit the car until he/she receives a specific command from you
and provide you with solutions for specific issues that may be of concern to you.
Goal:
The goal of this dog training goes beyond the performance of specific tasks. Each training lesson you and your dog learn should provide a vehicle for you to get closer to having effective communication between the two of you. You should want your dog to have a balanced life – one that includes not just affection, but structure, obedience, and respect. My goal is to help you provide that for your pet.
