Description

Learn Reader-Response Criticism! The workshop has many imbedded goals that will help students succeed in high school and prepare for college. First, it is an opportunity to keep a student’s mind active during the summer by challenging the student to read, critically reflect on and write analytically about an important work. Second, the workshop will introduce many literary terms and vocabulary words that are important for success on standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT, in high school classes, and in future college courses. Finally, each student will be supported through the writing process to produce a final essay, demonstrating competency in critical analysis. This final essay can be used as a writing sample for college admission, scholarship applications or for subsequent high school or college courses.
