Do you struggle to understand the speakers on the listening sections? Or do you score a bit low on practice tests in speaking?
You may have learned the British style of English rather than the American style or you may have learned from someone with an accent. In both cases, you can benefit from learning rules of the American dialect that will improve both your listening and speaking skills. For instance, have you noticed ...
* that we often drop the "h" sound, as in "What's 'is name?" rather than "What's his name?"
* that we reduce "t" sounds--we say "wader" instead of "water"
* that we reduce the word "to" in most situation, so that "today" sounds like "t'day"
There are many other examples. These are the same rules that Americans with accents, like inner city people or people from the south, have to learn before they can have professional public speaking careers. When you learn the standard American dialect, many of your listening/speaking questions will be answered and you can take the TOEFL with much greater confidence.

Review of Independent Excellence Tutoring, April 01, 2009
This tutor really helped my boy who struggles with autism. She has a great book of phonics songs and stories that helped him to finally understand reading. He continues to get tutoring and to sing the songs at home, to himself. It's a great way to teach reading!
