Description
I'm a teacher that believes music and learning an instrument are an important part of a well-rounded life! Music and learning to express oneself through an instrument is for everyone. I tailor lessons to the needs of the individual - beginning students should expect to learn the basics of flute playing such as tone production, breathing and hand/body position. As students progress or if they are already intermediate/advanced more specific flute playing skills are added so that a student is able to play more difficult music with greater ease. Books or music needed are assessed after a student has had a few lessons.
I've played the flute for 40 years and never get tired of picking it up just to play a piece I already know or to learn something new! My goal as a teacher is to pass along to each student the joy of playing an instrument and how you can make music a permanent part of your life.

The teacher is available during these hours to schedule a session:

- Wed 12:00p.m.-6:00p.m.,
- Thu 12:00p.m.-6:00p.m.
Pricing Details
Lessons are offered in 30, 45 and 60 minute sessions, based on the needs and interests of the student. Please call (206) 784-7118 for rates.

"A perfect class for serious music students"

I started working with Laura at the beginning of my senior year in high school. I have only had about two years of previous private instruction and therefore had a lot of bad habits that needed to be corrected! I was amazed at Laura's ability to hear the most intricate details in the music and give instant feedback that was helpful in order to correct every mistake and refine the piece that I was working on. I always felt challenged in her class and I was constantly working on new exercises and pieces that helped me improve my music ability. I have improved in all aspects of musicianship, including: rhythm, tone, technique and performance throughout the short time that I was working with Laura. Thanks to Laura's help I have now received music scholarships to Pacific Lutheran University and will be playing in their Wind Ensemble and other organizations. I highly recommend Laura's class to anyone that is serious about improving their musical skills and enjoys a challenge!
