Description
The German Level 5 class is for students who have previously taken our Level 4 class or who have the equivalent of 100-120 hours of German instruction taken in a larger group setting.
Students who have taken more than 120 hours in the past, yet are uncertain if this is the right class for them, can call us for an assessment of their German language abilities.
This German class will start with a short review of the contents covered in the two previous classes.
In this higher intermediate class you will be able to advance your speaking skills by learning how to express sympathy, lack of sympathy, empathy, relief, talk on the phone, use idiomatic expressions, extend, accept and decline invitations. You will improve your vocabulary through readings covering geographical landmarks, tourism, traveling, history, literature, leisure time, sports and clubs in German speaking countries. Grammar taught covers the genitive case, time expressions, types and sequence of adverbs, the position of “nicht”, the infinitive with “zu”, the ending of preceded adjectives and reflexive verbs.
