I am offering Private letterpress lessons on my beautiful Chandler & Price 10 x 15 platen press in my home studio. Students create their own project in which lessons would be centered around. I have a small collection of lead type available - or we can order a polymer plate of a preexisting design. A consultation meeting is required before we start sessions to determine what you want your project to be and what materials we will need to get started. These private sessions are great for people who want to learn basic letterpress skills, and create something useful to take home with them.

This is an excellent class for beginners - or a great class for people with letterpress knowledge - and need access to a press.

Great projects include: greeting cards, wedding invitations, broadsides, post cards, short books, business cards, bookmarks, and personalized stationary.

Notes:

Classes are $60 an hour - or $200 for a 4 hour session - which includes a free (out of studio) kick off meeting to determine materials, project, and scheduling. Return students may schedule work sessions for $30 an hour once familiar with my studio and equipment. These prices include some materials. Students may be responsible for purchasing specialty papers or polymer plates depending on the project. Prices can be negotiable - so please contact me if you're interested.

I am a website designer with a strong passion towards tangible design. I graduated from Cornish College of the Arts with a degree in print design and have been working for an interactive design and development studio for the past three years. I was introduced to letterpress at Cornish and have pursued it as a hobby - getting a hold of my first press last year. I have teaching experience in letterpress printing as well as book making through Seattle Center for Book arts - with both children and adults. In my studio, I design and letterpress greeting cards, books and wedding invitations as well as screen print posters and t-shirts.
When I'm not designing - I am training for half marathons and triathlons - as well as spending time with my boxer puppy.
