Guitar LessonsFeatured

Subject: Guitar

I currently have openings for weekly one-hour private guitar lessons in Capitol Hill. All levels of students are welcome from beginners to advanced players. I cover any style of music that interests you - from jazz and blues to rock and folk - and my lessons focus on technique, musicianship and music theory to help you move forward in your own playing.

I believe strongly in teaching students to read music - both on the musical staff and from chord charts - to avoid reliance on tablature and other specialized forms of guitar notation. By learning to read music, you will be free to explore and master a far richer variety of material than what is available in guitar magazines and online. Learning to read music is also the best gateway to learning to write music of your own and share it with others.

Every student is different, and my lessons are geared to helping you find your own voice on the guitar. We can use any song or piece of music, arrange it for your current level of playing and use it to explore ideas or concepts from your lessons. In addition to the work I assign to help you advance in your musical technique and reading, you can pick music that you are interested in learning, or choose from the wide library of materials I have available, to keep your music lessons musical and fun.

I recommend weekly hourly lessons to begin with, and we can cater the scheduling to your own requirements as we go along. I recommend a minimum of 2-3 hours per week of practice to get the most from your lesson dollars.

Group lessons are available upon request.

New Payment Structure as of 1/1/11 - payments will be made monthly and due by the end of the month towards the following month. There are no make-ups for missed lessons, but reschedules within the same week may be possible. Weekly hourly lessons are $220/month for 4 lessons. Half-hour lessons maybe be possible for younger students, but one-hour lessons are strongly encouraged.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!

best regards,

-Andrew Boscardin
