Description
In this class we’ll read and discuss the best of John Milton. Born in 17th century England, Milton led the action-packed life of a great author. He wrote pamphlets justifying the execution of a king, argued for the rights of women to end bad marriages, and denounced government interference in publishing. He also composed gemlike lyric poems as well as the magnificent “Christian” epic, Paradise Lost, that often strikes readers as a celebration of Satan and his heroic wrath.
Class is taught in the evening on the University of Washington campus in Seattle, and is offered through the Experimental College. To register go to https://depts.washington.edu/asuwxpcl.
