I have taken years of piano instruction from Caroline and can honestly say she has been a wonderful instructor. I have had more than one so I'm not just taking pride in who taught me - she really does a great job. If you're looking for someone who is involved with the student and family she teaches, someone with established values and someone who has decades of experience in all forms of instructing, improvising, and performing, then Mrs. Germaine is your instructor.
What I love best about her is her ability to get to know a student and find what motivates that person. She finds how to talk to the student and get past a bad week where he/she didn't get any practice in, for example, and move on to what can be done now. She has great taste in music and has experimented in all genres, but I would, however, recommend her most to those interested in classical. If you want to learn some jazz piano then Caroline can teach this as well, but for die-hard classical like Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and more, she has deep familiarity; this is a woman who spent thirty minutes describing what Mozart was thinking about when I was learning "Rondo Alla Turca," and that was only on a few stanzas of the song. It wasn't some boring lecture either, it was an involved conversation that really gave me important musical insight and I will always appreciate how her enthusiasm for music has changed my life.
