ELD Literacy B - Reading and ESL

Description

Literacy B is for students who have a basic understanding of simple English. They should know how to write a simple sentence correctly and understand a reading selection that uses basic vocabulary. The class endeavors to raise the English proficiency level of students. Every day we do some speaking, reading and writing. Reading strategies are used to aid both decoding and comprehension. Students are taught how to improve their sentences and how to write basic paragraphs. Students speak informally and also do presentations to the class. The students are also learning how to make a PowerPoint presentation.
The students have "Introductory Visions" as a text, and they have a Literacy Notebook that is created in class as a learning tool.

I teach two blocks and share one block with Ms. Mamedova. I teach the ESL portion of the course, and she teaches the Reading.

Homework:
In both classes there is homework assigned almost every night. This homework should be recorded in the student's planning book. If there is no homework assigned, the students should practice speaking English and read an English book
