Description

Curious about the Bible, but get turned off by religion?

I teach a short course on the Bible for the irreligious. We walk through the Bible, focusing on the humanistic questions the book asks:

- What does real justice look like, and how is it often perverted?
- How do oppression and hope shape people?
- What is humanity’s role in the Universe?
- What do people owe to other people?

The Biblical story has shaped the modern world; from it flow liberation movements and religious terrorism alike. Understanding the Bible may be more important now than ever before.

I passionately teach the Bible without bias. I’m a summa cum laude graduate of Religious Studies and History, have written a thesis on Historical Jesus Studies, and have taught the Bible in many odd settings. I’m also agnostic, so you can be sure I won’t secretly try to slip in any proselytizing!

This course is designed to be eye-opening to adults and teens alike. It will ask many important questions, and challenge all simple answers.
