These lessons are designed to be positive reinforcement sessions! I teach two to three at a time privately in Greenwood neighborhood or groups of 5-12 at your location. Designed for people who want to learn together and share the cost. Learning to use your voice well is a strange experience internally. You will think what you hear is good when it is bad or bad when it is beautiful on the outside. You will feel like it isn't "you." Having a friend cheering you on because they can really hear is incredibly valuable. . . and fun!
I specialize in bridging voices throughout your range, extending range, giving you tonal control, building breath control, getting rid of unnecessary tension and learning how to communicate a song. My forte is simple physical tricks that open up the ease and warmth of the voice.
I use techniques from Feldenkrais, Bel Canto, Continuum, Linklater of Shakespeare & Co., Arthur Lessac, the Muppets, years of experience performing and training, and years of experience with "problem" voices.

"We do all kinds of fun, crazy things with Janet! We are so much better now!" Chelsea and Katy, Summit High students. Janet's students have won lead singing roles, are no longer afraid to sing in public, and don't lose their voices anymore. A full-time paid professional for over twenty years, Janet guides you to sing well even when you're tired, stressed or scared, and can unlock stubborn bad habits through clear physical exercises. Teens and adults, beginners to professionals. Janet moves students quickly to singing with ease, tonal color, range, and control. She annually teaches master classes at Calvin College ("We must have you back! . . . quick diagnosis and effective exercises!"), Grand Valley State University, and Big Apple Clown Care. She was vocal coach for Seattle's Summit K-12 musicals and Artist-in-Residence with Colorado Council of Arts & Humanities. Her techniques are influenced by Owen Brown of Juilliard, Erich Parce of Seattle Opera, and Feldenkrais techniques of awareness. First lessons are $30. I charge a sliding scale of $40-50 for individual sessions. Two people session, "doubles", are $60. Call regarding group workshops which range from $250-400. Workshops are at the group/school's space. I teach private lessons in the Greenwood area. PLEASE CALL, TO SCHEDULE A TIME--I am not always on-line!! “Again, THANKS for an awesome workshop. Great teaching! Everyone felt like you were the first to truly deserve the money we pay!” - Kate Smith, Big Apple Circus Clown Care Team, Team leader and performer, 2007 workshop
