SAT/ACT Prep
Subject: Test Prep
If your child is preparing for the SAT, we can help bring focus and success to that endeavor! We have many tutors who specialize in different areas. Kids who need language arts prep, generally need:
* to increase their vocabulary in memorable ways
* to learn strategies for interpreting the author's intentions
* to strengthen their knowledge of grammar rules
The SAT is HARD! Many adults who look at it again still find it difficult. Teenagers lack the life experience that would allow them to see the bigger picture behind an author's intentions. They need to learn techniques for finding the author's purpose and the overall meaning of a written passage. SAT classes are useful of course, but when the time comes, your child will be taking the test solo. That's why tutoring works.
We have tutors who can work with language arts only or who can work with all parts of the SAT, language arts and math prep.
Our tutors go to your home (or a nearby location, such as a library) and adapt to your child's needs. We aim for success!

Speak Clearly! There are many American English pronunciation rules that include: * vowel sounds (a, e, i, o, u) * sounds that change (there are several sounds for T, 2 sounds for Th and more) * stresses * speaking with natural rhythm I have developed a website with many online tools that you can use to improve your speech. You can take an online class for $14.95 that tells you everything about vowel sounds and spellings, take private lessons with me or have short video lessons through Skype. On the website, there are free tools you can use, including online tests to see what you know. See www.speakmethod.com. Everyone has different needs. The rules on www.speakmethod.com are based on the standard American English pronunciation used by professional speakers (such as people on TV). I have combined numerous pronunciation sources and also included the ways we teach our children how to read--this helps you to see how Americans think about our language.
