Description
If you dream of finding joy and ease in singing, let's make that dream a reality! Experienced performer/teacher with a passion for making vocal beauty and the unfolding of each student's personal artistry accessible and FUN.
Each lesson includes the body-awareness training that allows your voice to bloom naturally, plus time to sing whatever songs you love. Susan is a skilled accompanist who can move your songs into the key that is comfortable for you.
Classical, musical theater, folk, pop -- all styles and levels welcome; high schoolers and actors a specialty.
Susan has Master's degree in music and Opera Diploma from University of Toronto, has taught voice at University of Colorado and Music Works Northwest.

I came to Susan to get help with my vocal exercises. I learned new exercises and along the way I found the courage--and encouragement--to play with my voice while performing different styles of music. What I have learned has been very freeing for my singing voice. I also discovered that I feel very comfortable and "at home" with Broadway show tunes. Finally, I thank Susan who has connected me me other musicians in her studio and at Music Works Northwest. These introductions have led to performance opportunities for me. In fact, I have performed more in the last twelve months than I have in the past ten years. Thanks Susan! It is a pleasure knowing you and working with you.

"Singing Lessons with Susan"

I've been taking private lessons with Susan for five years (since I was just ten years old)! Every single week, I look forward to going into my class and seeing Susan's bright, happy smile. Her wonderful personality and kindness are more than enough to win me over, but there's yet another benefit: she's a wonderful singing teacher too! Over the years, Susan has helped me become more confident in my voice by teaching me new voice exercises and practicing songs (while applying the techniques there). Last year, I auditioned for my school musical and got the lead part. I know that I wouldn't have had nearly enough confidence, experience, or talent to get the part without Susan's help. I'll definitely stay with Susan until I go off to college, and when I come back... well, I hope she'll save my spot for me!
