"A saturated, confident approach . . . immediate impact." ~Steffon Moody, Chameleon Performance

"The girls are absolutely LOVING their work with you! Thank you so much. "

My students have won lead singing roles, are no longer afraid to sing in public, and don't lose their voices anymore.I have taught master classes at Calvin College ("We must have you back! . . . quick diagnosis and effective exercises!") and Grand Valley State University (both in Michigan), and Big Apple Clown Care.

I've been performing professionally--locally and nationally--for over 28 years. I've done musical theater, classical, opera, jazz, folk, and French popular music.

I love teaching just as much, helping students avoid the pitfalls I've overcome--learning how to sing well even when you're tired, stressed or scared, and unlearning stubborn bad habits through clear physical exercises. As a working professional, I have a realistic approach to technique and performing possibilities.

“Again, THANKS for an awesome workshop. Great teaching! Everyone felt like you were the first to truly deserve the money we pay!”
- Kate Smith, Big Apple Circus Clown Care Team, Team leader and performer, 2007 workshop

"Ms. Rayor's enthusiasm and expertise was apparent as she worked with my intermediate acting students. Her easy and light manner complemented the seriously practical advise she gave and exercises she conducted with my students. Students found the work invigorating, instructive and enlightening. I am looking forward to hosting another workshop in the future."
~Professor Karen Libman, Grand Valley State University, April 2008 workshop

Notes:

First lessons are $30 for individuals.

I charge a sliding scale of $40-50 for individual sessions. Two people session, or "doubles", are $60.

While individual sessions devote total attention to you, doubles can be cost effective and instructive hearing how the exercises improve a partner's voice. Sessions are one hour in length, allowing for strengthening range, ease, tone, and improving specific songs, spoken material, or movements.

Review of Janet Rayor, November 01, 2009

I've just begun working with Janet, but already, she has me singing better. I have such a great time in my lessons, they feel like such a privilege. She really provides the tools to not just produce pretty sounds, but gets you to have something more behind the notes. This is especially helpful if, like me, you have little to no experience singing and acting vocally.

Review of Janet Rayor, October 31, 2009

I was drawn to Janet Rayor's dynamic personality and lively performances and knew instantly I had found the best possible voice teacher for me. I started pursuing my singing /perfiormance goals late in life and Janet has taken special care to understand my unique needs and objectives. In every class she makes sure I hear the progress we're making - making it easy and excting to come back week after week. Earl R.
