This recurring workshop is a rare opportunity for singers to work with one of the top rhythm sections in the Northwest jazz scene. Each series includes four, half-hour sessions (once a week, generally Tuesday nights) with piano, bass and drums and myself. The students will work up 4 songs for the performance. We work on communication with the instrumentalists, song form, solos, arrangements, mic technique and stage presence. Students are encouraged to stay as long as they like and watch the other participants. Each four-week session ends with a performance at Seattle's premiere jazz club, Tula's, where singers have the option of taping themselves or showcasing for gigs..and of course inviting their friends and family to see them

Review of Greta Matassa, May 07, 2008

Greta Matassa's workshop has to be the coolest and most educational experience I've had with music in a long time. Not only do you get an opportunity to work with Seattle's beloved Greta, you couldn't ask for a more talented ryhthm section. I found that being involved with such lofty talent was intimidating at first, but the atmoshere is certainly the opposite. I wanted to do my best and found that I was practicing more than ever and coupled with private lessons blew away my friends and family at the showcase presented at Tula's. This is not only a great place for singers, but instumentalists as well. I worked with a sax player at my workshop and we heard a violinist as well! So much fun! Do it!
