Why people are studying Medical Spanish now?
By Urania Pérez.

I have been a Spanish Instructor for a long time but it has been in the last two years that I noticed a demand for “Medical Spanish” in Seattle. You may wonder what is Medical Spanish? It is a Spanish course where you focus your learning to the vocabulary used by doctors and healthcare providers. Grammar is presented just like in any other Spanish class but using just the vocabulary used by the medical professionals. Practice is focus in role-playing with situational dialogues between doctor and patient.

I have been teaching Medical Spanish in Experimental College for about a year, and another year in my own business Spanish In Seattle. It is fascinating to me to learn why students are taken my course. I noticed that...

How A Crush Turned Into A Career

Posted by La Maestra on August 26, 2009

It's funny how things work out sometimes. You start down a road that intrigues you at which end you know not what you'll find. Some steps you take bring pleasure and some bring pain but at every step you learn something new. And when you finally reach your destination (that is, if you've actually realized you've arrived) your journey's end is much sweeter than you could ever have imagined!
More than 20 years ago I discovered a Mexican singer named Luis Miguel. Everything about him captivated me and I fell! HARD!
Those of you who know of him and his music (and especially if you are female) will appreciate and understand that falling for Luis Miguel is not a difficult task at all.
Being Filipina and fluent in Tagalog I already knew some Spanish (Tagalog is 5% Spanish after all) but not enough to understand exactly what...

Ten top tips to improve your Spanish
I am the owner and instructor of Spanish In Seattle. During the last 3 years providing, mostly, private tutoring and instruction to students with different learning styles I have learned several good tips that I give to my students I want to pass them along to other students. Here are the ten top tips:
1.  Use flashcards, specially if you are a teenager or university student. In one size write the word in English and in the other size in Spanish. Add your own drawings to it. It is a fun exercise. This also works well for adults.
2.  Practice is the key to learn the language. Practice 30 minutes every day for a minimum of 5-6 days each week. Select the easy items first then go to the more challenging ones.

3. Choose a word or an idiomatic expression a...
