I teach guitar and related music theory. I have been playing guitar for 30 years in dance bands, combos, wedding bands, show bands, original rock and fusion bands, acoustic duos, trios, as a solo act, as an accompanist and as a recording studio musician. I have also been trained in the piano, clarinet, and saxophone.
I was born in Los Angeles. Graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 1975. Moved back to Los Angeles and became immersed in the local music scene there. In 1996 I moved with my two sons to Phoenix AZ and began playing the local scene there and working in various studios around. Then after graduating from the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, AZ in 2000 we moved back to the bay area.
I have worked with all kinds of artists in and out of the studio and have been teaching guitar for about 10 years.
I structure my lesson plans based on the individual student’s experiences, interests and abilities. We can work on Rhythm and or lead playing, acoustic or electric. I teach a little music theory mixed with a lot of hands on playing and improvising. I can help you to take your playing wherever you want to go. My emphasis is on developing your own style.
I teach students of many different ages and levels, most styles. Let’s make some music.
