Our Mission
The Alliance Française de Seattle, a dynamic educational and cultural nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization serving the greater Puget Sound area. Our mission is to promote the French language, increase awareness of French and francophone cultures, and foster friendly relations between the American and French people.

Our Organization
The Alliance Française de Seattle was founded in 1987; evolving from the Seattle Cercle Française (French Club) that had been in existence for 50 years. We are one of the 135 chapters in the United States of the Alliance Française, the largest network of French language and cultural centers in the world. We are an independently supported American organization governed by our Franco-American Board of Directors, and supported by our members.

Our Programs and Activities
We offer a broad array of fun and engaging programs and activities for people of all ages and at all levels of French language proficiency. Our educational courses, multimedia library resources, social activities, and cultural events all celebrate the French language and culture. Our full calendar of enriching programs includes discussion groups, culinary experiences, children's play groups, film viewings, lectures, performances, and art exhibitions, with themes spanning from historical to current French topics. We invite you to join us in sharing our French traditions! Our calendar of activities is posted on our website and announce in our newsletter L'ECHO.

Our Worldwide Network
The Alliance Française de Seattle is affiliated with the worldwide network established with the founding of the Alliance Francaise de Parisin 1883 to promote French language and culture, and to foster friendly relations between francophones and francophiles of all racial, national and ethnic origins. The Alliance Française de Paris is represented in the United States by its general delegation based at the French embassy in Washington, D.C. -- the Delegation Generale de I'Alliance Francaise de Paris aux Etats-Unis. he Alliance Française de Seattle is a member of Federation of Alliances Francaises USA. We work closely with both the Délégation Générale and the Federation of Alliances Francaises USA, connecting our members and community to others throughout the world who share a love of French culture.
