I first discovered my love for yoga and meditation when I was 14 years old, attending a SYDA Yoga retreat with my family in the Catskill Mountains of New York. As an adolescent, the philosophy of yoga gave me a much needed blueprint of how to live my life; from the simple and mundane of daily living to the more subtle and profound practice of meditation. My interest of the vast philosophy of yoga was awakened! So, when an opportunity to live in ashram in Ganeshpuri, Indian came up, I went for it. There, for an extended period of time, I followed a daily schedule of scriptural study, chanting, meditation, hatha yoga and communal service. This atmosphere for me resulted in not just intellectual study of yoga philosophy but the continuous steady practice and experience of what yoga truly has to offer.

In 1984, I earned my undergraduate degree in Film and Television at NYU. Afterwards I worked on mostly documentaries that supported my love and fascination for Eastern Indian philosophy and yoga. My work exposed me to many beautiful places and cultures; taking me places in India, Japan, China and Egypt. My favorite and most profound place was the sacred mountain: Kailas; the abode of Shiva, where I felt like I experienced heaven on earth.

I continued to make regular visits to India and other SYDA Yoga retreat areas between my schooling and work up until I become pregnant with my first child. I then settled down to raise a family.

Soon though, I wanted a connection with a yoga community and a practice that I could easily apply to my everyday life. I found John Friend's Anusara Yoga. I have been practicing this style ever since.

I am grateful to have studied with some top Anusara teachers: John Friend, Denise Benitez, Elizabeth Rainy, Sienna Sherman, Christy Burnette and SarahJoy Marsh; and I acknowledge that I am what I am to day as a teacher because of them.

I am a licensed Anusara-inspiredTM yoga teacher and I continue my studies, working towards my 500 hour Anusara teacher’s certification. I also hold a 100 hour prenatal yoga certification with Collette Crawford at Seattle Holistic Center.

I have been teaching hatha yoga part time for 7 years and I have recently dedicated myself to teaching it full time.
