Barbara Salkin is a teacher and freelance cellist in the Seattle area. Teaching both at the Pacific NW School in Bellevue since 1992 and at her home in Seward Park, her students range from ages 4 to adult. She uses the Suzuki method as a basis of her teaching philosophy. Weekly private lessons are supplemented with group cello classes where the focus can be on technical aspects of playing in addition to ensemble playing.
Barbara has been an active performer in the Seattle area. She played at The 5th Avenue Theater for 15 years and has been a member of the Brillig String Quartet since 1991. She has played with the NW Chamber Orchestra and has toured or performed with Johnny Mathis, Liberace, Sammy Davis, Ray Charles, Jimmy Paige & Robert Plant and others
