Basic Skills Tutoring's Profile

Susan established BASIC SKILLS TUTORING, INC. (BST) in 1991 after 20 years of personal experience teaching children in regular classrooms, self-contained Special Education classrooms and in one-to-one tutoring settings. She taught 6th grade in Texas and Special Education Classes (grades 2-6) in the Issaquah and Mercer Island school districts. She holds a Master's in Special Education from the University of Washington. Her experience and expertise is in core curriculum, including the fundamentals of reading, phonics, writing and math. Susan works with numerous professionals in the Seattle area including teachers, psychologists and speech and language therapists and is familiar with schools, resources, and the programs used in many public, private and parochial schools (K-12). She designs each student program at Basic Skills Tutoring, Inc. and maintains ongoing communication with parents and schools. Susan continues to work directly with students and supervises the instruction provided by other tutors at Basic Skills Tutoring, Inc.
