"A French Camp for all Kids"
Review of Canoe Island French Camp, April 14, 2009
This camp is unique because it allows kids of any level French language ability from none to excellent to meet counselors from France (and other countries) and learn about the Francophone world and the wonderful French language. The language classes are just part of the fun -- the camp is an active place with a huge variety of sports, games, arts, music, theater, and French passetemps like jousting, fencing, and French cuisine. I wish I were still 13!
- Pros:
- Engaging, Encouraging, Patient, Funny, Fun
- How was this location?:
- Awesome
- How was the price?:
- OK
I would recommend this teacher

Review of Canoe Island French Camp, April 03, 2009
What a beautiful Island! This little treasure is perfect. Very remote, yet not difficult to access. The island is covered in moss and forest. It is small with gorgeous coastline and trails throughout. There is an intimacy about it, yet there are numerous little places for privacy. There is a lovely feeling of warmth and safety. It would be a great place for small/med groups for many different types of retreats, from Yoga, to Writing, Sailing, Business groups etc. There is a lodge with electricity, a full kitchen/dining room (fireplace), game room, pool/patio, all the basics. The directors and caretakers are very genuine, savvy and warmhearted. They have tremendous knowledge about the wildlife and geography and are extremely organized and skilled at what they do.

Review of Canoe Island French Camp, April 03, 2009
Canoe Island is both regal and rustic, raw and refined, There are not many inclusive vacation locations that are as unique and rewarding as this island essentially in the middle of the San Juan Islands, Wa. One side of the 47 acre island has been tastefully developed with low impact on the surrounding natural world and the other half is untouched with exception of walking trails. The ability to have 360 degree views of the surrounding waterways, mountains and islands within a short 20 min walk around the is astounding. I must admit making the walk in 20 min. without becoming distracted by deer, otter, mink, a miriad of birds including eagles, and possibly if you are lucky whales. All of this is simply the cream on top of a world class opportunity to learn; French language and culture, culinary arts, kayaking, sailing, natural history and much more. If you have not been to Canoe Island add it to your list, whether it be a family camp, yoga retreat, or vicariously lived through the eyes of your children. See you there.

Review of Canoe Island French Camp, April 03, 2009
Everything is meeting to make of Canoe Island the perfect Camp, the forest, the sea, the culture, the more than qualified and welcoming staff, the friendliness cohesion and so much more !!!
The Camp facilities are awesome, there's a restaurant room and kitchen, that would make the finest Aspen lodge blushing with jealousy !!! A semi Olympic swimming pool bordered by the terrace of a charming cafe under the shadow of the pine trees. Seems like Provence is next door !!!
I have to say, being french myself, I really feel like home on Canoe Island.
I actually plan to go back there for their Yoga weekend starting May 15th.I think everybody should try and see by themselves, You won't be deceived !!!
See you there....

Review of Canoe Island French Camp, April 02, 2009
Canoe Island French Camp offers an amazing opportunity for campers to experience French culture, tradition, cuisine and language in the Pacific NW. Perfect for kids of any French level, there is no previous language experience required. This camp is especially great for those planning a trip overseas, it gives them a chance to practice speaking in a safe and nurturing environment. Plus, the island is amazing, full of natural wonder and unbelievable architecture.
