Founded in 1998 by Stephanie Charbonneau and Donald Stojack, Cappella Choirs began with a single girl choir of 23 singers. In the fall of 1999, with the help of a few dedicated parents, Cappella was set up as a non-profit educational organization with the purpose to "encourage, sponsor, aid, promote, and develop the art and joy of performing choral music."

Today, Cappella is a thriving, community-based educational organization governed by a volunteer board of directors. The program has grown to become a full scale Music Center, home to 6 different choirs performing at all levels of ability from beginner to professional quality tour choir and to music instruction for all ages (starting at 6 months). The program also sponsors a consistently sold out annual Fort Worden Children's Choir Festival and several summer choir camps.

Our current board of directors is a highly motivated cross section of business owners, community members, music professionals and parents. Some of our past board members have been a Rotary President, a Washington State Legislator, a Kitsap County Sheriffs Lieutenant and a nationally ranked children's choir director. Our staff members are skilled professionals in the areas of choral and instrumental music, some with over 30 years of experience in the field of music education and performance. In addition, Cappella benefits from the support of numerous parent volunteers and community leaders.

Our programs offer opportunities for all children/youth regardless of physical or mental limitations. We provide a place where all children can fit in - from the highly talented/motivated to those just beginning to develop music skills. Special needs students have always found a safe and welcome place in our programs.

Music is an important element in the education of children. We believe that all children should have the opportunity to experience the educational benefits, the personal character growth, and the joy of performing quality music.
