Please check out www.honkmedia.com for a comprehensive profile of Christine Mahoney's background, experience and current projects.
Christine Mahoney got interested in media as a small child, watching the "Today" show with her grandmother. Her first published work came at the age of eight, when the Lutheran magazine featured Christine's article about her new church. From a very young age, she knew she wanted to be a reporter, and would tape record interviews with friends and family members, then "produce" stories for both print and broadcast (even though the "broadcast" was limited to her own living room)!
In junior high and high school, Christine wrote for her school newspapers. At Skyline High in Longmont, CO, she DJ'd on the school-wide KSKY radio station, and competed in Forensics, getting her first taste of on-camera critiques and competition. That led to the University of Colorado at Boulder's School of Journalism and Mass Communication, where Christine earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast News. She now works as an adjunct instructor at CU, teaching Radio and Television News Writing and, occasionally, TV Reporting.
Her love of writing translated well to her award-winning radio and television career, which started at WSGW News Radio 790 in Saginaw, MI where she first worked as a reporter, writing and producing her own stories, and later as an anchor, where she honed her performance skills. Christine also served as a television reporter/anchor at WEYI in Flint, MI and WNEM in Saginaw, MI. From there, she was Vegas-bound, with on-air contracts at KTVN and KVVU. She also did freelance reporting at the FOX station in Sacramento, CA and the CBS owned-and-operated station in Denver, CO. She continues to write for Boulder Magazine and several national parenting magazines, and dreams of writing a children's book.
In 2003, Christine decided to leave the fast-paced world of TV news and pursue her own projects, through freelance work. The idea for Honk! Media was born. The company's name was added in 2008, after an inspiring run around Boulder's beautiful Viele Lake, where geese noisily make their presence known. Christine truly loves to share her skills, and her easy-going manner and positive attitude can help carry any project through completion.
