I was born in a small town in New Hampshire in 1957. I always liked "Playin in the Mud" and have not stopped. I took my first class in 1974 at the League of New Hampshire Craftsman in Exeter, the instructor was Lorraine Dilmore. I learned very quickly. Its amazing how fast we can learn when we skip school to learn to make pottery on the wheel. That didnt last too long and was not allowed back into the studio until school hours had ended. Within two years, I had learned enough and developed skills that would enable me to teach others the basics in wheel throwing, and did this at the Market Basket in Portsmouth N. H. In 1977, I moved to Atlanta Georgia and continued throwing at Callenwolde Fine Arts Center in the Midtown area. For the next 30+ years, I was busy getting married, driving a truck and watching 2 kids grow up way too fast (Daniel & Emily) It wasnt until January of 2008, that I had a chance to re-enter the World of the Potter. Now, I have recently moved from my home of 32 years, to Philadelphia PA. to assist my brother in taking care of his apartment building. I have now arrived in Philadelphia and have found a place to continue to do pottery. Right around the corner from the apartment is an arts center called University City Arts League. I have found a wonderful, caring and artistic group of individuals there and will be in charge of overseeing the operation of the kilns and their firing. Nothing in this world, happens by chance, and I feel that I have landed on their doorstep, for a reason.
