Dave is a great teacher with a wealth of knowledge and experience. We recently met to discuss the Microfinance industry and the stories he shared were both eye-opening and informative. Dave's experience really shines through in his teaching and I highly recommend this class to anyone seeking direction and motivation in their learning (and life).
- Pros:
- Engaging, Smart, Funny, Good communicator
Teacher's Response:
Thank you for the review Mark -- I really enjoyed talking with you as well. Please let me know if there are ways I can help, as you continue your search for your 'calling' :-)

Review of Introduction to Twitter, April 24, 2009
Dave provided wonderful instruction during his webinar training on Twitter. He was very knowledgeable on the subject and provided great clarity on questions presented to him by the group. His preparation was stellar with a ppt deck that could be easily reviewed. I feel as if I'm a "twitter guru" following his training. Thanks Dave. My sound was perfect!
- Pros:
- Helpful, Engaging, Smart, Patient, Fun, Good communicator
- How was this location?:
- Awesome
- How was the price?:
- Great value

Review of Introduction to Twitter, April 23, 2009
I liked the webinar until the sound turned off promptly at noon. I could see Dave's cursor and the side bar dialog box said Dave was talking. I tried through various mediums: Twitter (ScubaSkier) and the side bar combox, but no response in writing (couldn't hear comments). So missed about 15 - 20 minutes of the overtime conversation about other Twitter services. So grades below reflect my not getting the whole show. Good venue. Teaching needs to be more organized and focused, but good potential.

Teacher's Response:
Hey David -- sorry for having the sound cut out on you -- that was our first experiment with GoToMeeting, and most of the folks had no problems with the sound, but we know we had issues with some folks. And, sorry for running on too long -- we'll try to do better with future webinars -- hope you're having a great day!

Review of Introduction to Microfinance, November 24, 2008
I met with Dave this past weekend to discuss his experience working in the microfinance community, and ways I could potentially get involved. I was fairly familiar with the industry before, but wanted a more intimate understanding of the opportunities specific to Seattle and resources to continue learning.
In short, Dave was exactly the person I was looking for. We chatted about his experience working with Unitus, as well as discussed at length the various other organizations (Kiva, Grameen Technology Center, ACCION, Global Partnerships) with which he was familiar. Dave answered all my questions, and pointed me to other areas/opportunities I hadn't even considered.
Probably the best part of our meetup was his willingness to put me in touch with other people working in the orgs above. Rather than limiting this to a one-shot deal, Dave connected me with a handful of other individuals to keep the conversation going, something at least as valuable as the education he provided. I'm in the process now of following up with these individuals, and am planning to meet up with them next week.
I'd highly recommend Dave to anyone interested in learning more about microfinance, as well as anyone seeking to learn more about and/or get plugged into the Seattle startup community.
Thanks again, Dave!
Teacher's Response:
Thanks for the review, Tony -- I really appreciate it -- and, I really enjoyed meeting with you this weekend. I look forward to hearing about your expanded involvement in coming weeks and months!

Review of Introduction to Microfinance, August 18, 2008
Show up with questions! Dave has answers about microfinance and more experience than most on this critical topic. If you're lucky, you might get some insight into how TeachStreet came to be. He's as adept a teacher as he is an innovator.
Teacher's Response:
It was great meeting with you, Ryan -- sorry to hear about your newfound caffeine addiction, but welcome to Seattle (the land of lattes)! As you explore microfinance more, I look forward to additional discussions.
