The first day of Deborah's class I didn't even know how to properly thread my machine or pick up the bobbin thread let alone the first thing about reading a pattern or cutting it out. I had zero confidence in my ability to sew with my machine and I was very timid in that regard. By the end of classes I had made myself a cute gingham apron with ruffles and huge pockets and the past week and a half had the confidence to make Christmas stockings for my entire family. Before this class I would have never walked into a fabric store and purchased items to make a project. I never felt that I was in my realm. Now I'm searching for my next project and can't wait to keep sewing.

Review of start sewing and/or recyCouture design, August 12, 2008
This class has been very energizing. Deborah is very supportive and has a subtle way of making you believe that you can succeed. I've appreciated how practical the class was and how generous she is with her time. Her teaching style reminds me of the words to a Leonard Cohen song: 'follow me, said the wise man, but he walked behind'. She will get you to do the work while hovering supportively in the background. I trust her to help me translate what's in my imagination into reality.
