Dmitriy Kosovskiy

My name is Dmitriy and I am a piano teacher in the Seattle area. A little bit about me: I have received BA/BM degrees in piano performance from the University of Washington in July 2007 and am currently working on my Master's degree in piano performance at the University of Washington. I have participated and was a prize winner of many local competitions around Washington state, including the 1st place at the 13th annual UW concerto competition, which resulted in the performance with the UW Symphony Orchestra in January 2007. I have also given solo concerts all around Seattle.
In my teaching, I concentrate on several aspects of music. First of all, a student has to have a basic understanding of music theory and history in order to understand what he or she is playing. I pay special attention to musicality and expression through different stories, images and interactive games, because a piece of music is "dead" until a student can express it and "bring it to life." And last, but not least, I feel that it is very important for a student to learn piano technique, through different fun exercises, since without technique, a student would not be able to express music.
