Ellen Robinson

Jazz vocalist Ellen Robinson is a recording artist, teacher, choral director, composer and arranger. She currently is director of the Anything Goes Choruses in San Francisco and Oakland, two mixed community choruses that she founded in 1980. She also directs two women's performing ensembles, Girlfriendz and Treble Makers, and teaches a beginning singing class for women called Swingshift Singers. In addition, she recently began working as a vocal coach with Stagebridge in Oakland, the nation's oldest senior theater company. Ellen is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and has worked with literally thousands of singers, from professional to beginner, and is widely praised as a gifted and dedicated vocal coach. She has spent many years teaching aspiring singers of all ages as a vocal instructor for adults at U.C. Berkeley Extension, a choral director for teenagers in the Oakland Youth Chorus, and a music instructor for children at Walden Center and School in Berkeley and Beacon Day School in Oakland. Ellen's most recent CD, "Mercy! Ellen Robinson Live," is a compilation of songs from concerts performed since her last CD, "On My Way To You." She produced both of these recordings on her own EMR MUSIC label.
