Fawn J Pierre

Fawn’s career with animals began at the tender age of 6, training her own dog (plus cats, birds, fish, hamsters...) and then proceeding to all of the neighborhood dogs. Many years later (but not that many), Fawn Pierre began training dogs professionally. She created the first structured puppy daycare in the country emphasizing the importance of early socialization and basic training for puppies. In 2001 She created and authored the first curriculum for Dog Walkers, currently being taught at academies and schools in the Bay Area. She has trained both staff and management in a variety of pet care industries, volunteered and worked in the Behavior and Training Department at the SF SPCA where she helped develop numerous shelter programs including treatment programs and evaluation guidelines. She instructed at the highly respected SF SPCA's Academy for Dog Trainers. A member of the APDT since 1995, Fawn continues her studies in the area of dog (and people) learning and behavior. Her favorite learning experience was training chickens with Bob Bailey, the US Navy's first Director of Training, and consulting with Eco parks in Mexico to enhance their training program for dolphins. Fawn is well known in San Francisco for her exceptional teaching abilities, her informative and entertaining classes, approachable attitude, and talent for cultivating the human-canine bond. She specializes in puppy development and training, coaching children of all ages to train the family puppy, and aggression prevention and modification. Fawn believes dog training should be a positive experience—both for the dog as well as the human. She is a gifted storyteller and has unique abilities to diagnose and resolve issues creatively and to communicate solutions affably and clearly—resulting in smiles and wags all around.
