I started fly-fishing approximately 12 years ago and had nobody to teach me how to effectively cast when I first got started. Eventually, I met an older mentor at a local fly-shop to taught who taught me how to put myself in a position to teach myself and from that point, when I was able to see my faults and correct them, my fly casting skills took off.
Teaching? My passion for training and showing others goes back to my years as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army. Back then it was necessary military skills, but today it's all about necessary fly-fishing skills that mean that my students will enjoy greater success on the water during their next fly-fishing trip. My greatest satisfaction is getting a call or an email from a student who tells of how his fishing guide noticed a marked improvement in his casting from last year's trip!
So if you new to fly-fishing, I am committed to seeing you off to a great start by grounding you in the fundamentals necessary to become a great fly-fisher.
If you are an experienced caster and wants to improve your cast before your next trip, why not let me help you locate those "blind spots". Together we can find these faults and get you on a series of techniques to eliminate and retrain your muscle memory!
