Bagpiping is an oral tradition. It cannot be learned from a book alone. It is an unusual and arcane instrument. I teach in private sessions at my home and via Skype. My students play only a practice chanter (~ $75) for several months so that they know if piping is for them before they spend money on a set of bagpipes. I recommend a 1 - 1 1/2 hr lesson and to practice 5 times weekly. This is the best schedule for learning. Practice takes 15 minutes or so at first, increasing with experience. The more time you invest, the faster your progress. Remember, you want to learn with as little actual work as possible. A little more practice time combined with weekly lessons mean less work. I will teach you to play so that you will be respected by other pipers. Any less would not be fair to you.
