Classical Training for Contemporary Artists
Gage offers a variety of programs for adults and youth of all ages and abilities. Founded in 1989, the school celebrates its 20th Annivesary year during the 2009-10 school year.
Drawing, painting and sculpting from observation form the cornerstones of Gage classes, which are open to artists of all ages and skill levels. With a focus on the humanist tradition, we present the broadest range of figurative studies in the Northwest. Gage provides a variety of ways to hone your skills as an artist. Whether you join us for a weeklong workshop, chart a course of study through our Foundation Programs or immerse yourself in a yearlong atelier, you will find an artistic home at Gage.
Gage invites artists of all ages and skill levels to pursue their artistic goals here. No matter if you are a working art professional, an artist who has been away from the easel for awhile or simply curious to explore drawing, painting or sculpting, the common theme at Gage is your desire to learn and achieve personal progress.
For students seeking continuing education, Gage offers 10-week classes throughout the academic year (five-week classes in the summer), as well as weekend and weeklong workshops, lecture series and open and reserved studio sessions.
All of the educational programs at Gage are open enrollment, meaning students can choose for themselves what to take based on their own interests and considerations.
However, Gage offers ways two, more formal ways, to chart a course of study at the school. The Foundation Drawing and Painting Programs allow students to follow a set series of classes to build their skills and earn a Foundation Certificate, while the Gage Ateliers are an intensive studio program for the serious artist in training.
