A Bay Area artist, Gage Opdenbrouw was born and raised in San Jose, California, and lives, works, and teaches in San Francisco.   Opdenbrouw graduated with honors from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and is represented in San Francisco by Art Zone 461 Gallery, and the SFMOMA Artist's Gallery.

His work has been shown nationally, with works appearing recently in "Beyond Static" at Art Zone 461 Gallery, "Northern California Light", at the Thomas Reynolds Gallery, Dia de los Muertos", at the Bakersfield Museum of Art, the 75th Crocker-Kingsley exhibition, at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, at Geschiedle in Chicago, and in New Haven, Connecticut, at a show juried by longtime Yale professor of painting, William Bailey. 

Opdenbrouw has taught private lessons for the last 10 years, and in that time has also taught many classes, both privately in his studio, and at local art schools and community centers, for both children and adults. He is passionate about sharing his love of painting and drawing, with his students, and emphasizes visual basics and a traditional foundation as as some of the keys to developing as an artist. Lessons are highly individualized for each student, as each student may have different artistic goals, the intent of instruction is to provide the tools with which to achieve those goals.
