I offer lessons on a vast array of percussion instruments including snare drum, marimba, xylophone, drum set, and timpani. My lessons focus on fundamentals in reading music, technique, sound production, and musicianship. I have helped students with school ensembles, preparation for solo/ensemble competition, and auditions for colleges and conservatories. I am a passionate and committed teacher and I take great pride in showing students the wonderful world of drums and percussion!

Gunnar Folsom has been teaching in the Seattle-area for over 10 years. He holds a master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington. Gunnar is a percussion coach for the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras and has taught at University of Puget Sound, Marrowstone Music Camp, and New England Music Camp in Maine. Gunnar performs extensively throughout Seattle area with groups such as the Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Seattle Symphony, the Bellevue Philharmonic, the Northwest Sinfonietta, the Seattle Chamber Players and Pacific Rims; a percussion quartet of which he is a founding member. He can also be heard on various movie soundtracks including Die Hard With A Vengeance, Runaway Jury, and the IMAX film Everest.
