Helen Hiebert is a paper artist who exhibits her experimental work with handmade paper and teaches and lectures about papermaking and lamp making throughout the country. She has recently exhibited her work at the Portland Art Center, the 2007 Craft Biennial: A Review of Northwest Art & Craft, the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and the Korean Paper Invitational. She is author of "Papermaking with Plants", "The Papermaker's Companion", and "Paper Illuminated". Hiebert learned to make paper at Dieu Donné Papermill, a professional hand papermill located in New York City, where she worked for six years. She is Vice President of the International Association of Hand Papermakers, serves on the board of Hand Papermaking Magazine and writes a column for the Hand Papermaking newsletter focusing on alternative papermaking techniques.
