Review of Ingrid's OPEN STUDIO WEDNESDAYS, November 08, 2011
I just finished taking Ingrid's Monotype class for the second time. I LOVE this class! Ingrid is a wonderful teacher and has a broad knowledge of techniques and artistic styles. Taking the class for the second time, my artwork took a big leap ahead, and this was mostly because of Ingrid's insightful critique, suggestions, and help with technique. Ingrid is engaging and makes learning something new lots of fun. The studio space is great, too! Lots of room to spread out.
I have to admit, when I signed up for this class the first time, I wasn't exactly sure what it was. I was looking for something to jump start my creativity. Not only did I get a new infusion of energy for my art, but I learned a technique I truly love. Give it a try!!
- Pros:
- Engaging, Encouraging, Smart, Patient, Fun, Good communicator

Review of CHICAGO WATERCOLOR CLASSES WITH INGRID, October 11, 2011
Ingrid Albrecht is both a gifted artist and a gifted teacher--and a very nice person to boot! When I was younger I loved to draw and paint. My cousin, who took classes with Ingrid for a number of years in Hyde Park, encouraged me to join an evening class at Ingrid's new art studio on Ravenswood, just north of Addison. From the first moment I entered the class, Ingrid made me feel as welcome and valued as the students who regularly 're-up' with her every time she offers a new set of courses.
It was great getting back into it again--especially since the atmosphere in the class was so supportive. Every class ended with folks showing their work to the group while Ingrid evaluated what parts of the painting worked well (and why), then offered suggestions for improving the areas that were less successful. No matter where we were on the art-student continuum--beginner, or budding Andrew Wyeth--Ingrid seemed to have the evaluative ability, skills, and techniques to take us further than we thought we could go.
If you've been toying with the idea of picking up a paintbrush and trying your hand at watercolor painting, but feel a little shy about it, Ingrid's the perfect teacher. She concentrates on your strengths and celebrates every new skill that you've mastered. She gives you the straight 'skinny' on what you need to do to improve your work, but never makes you feel personally criticised or "less-than" anyone else. I plan to try one of her Painting on Water Printmaking workshops next. I highly recommend her classes!- Pros:
- Helpful, Engaging, Encouraging, Smart, Patient, Funny, Fun, Good communicator

Review of CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS IN MONOTYPE Using Ink, Watercolor and Acrylic, August 25, 2011
I wanted to create a body of work on a particular theme, and Ingrid got me jumpstarted with her monotype class. Not only is she knowledgeable, but she says the right thing to correct a painting in a way that is supportive and encouraging. I highly recommend her classes. Marcia Whitney-Schenck, Chicago

Review of MINI COURSE BEGINNING WATERCOLOR, August 15, 2011
Ingrid is great at encouraging even the greenest student. She always finds something positive to say as well some good constructive criticism. She genuinely wants you to learn, but also to have fun. I wish it could have been a longer course.
