I began my own classical violin studies at age 8 and am an avid orchestral and chamber musician. I also enjoy playing bluegrass music on violin and mandolin, improvising with contemporary ensembles on my electric violin, and teaching myself to play folk harp. I am a violinist in the Bremerton ...
I began my own classical violin studies at age 8 and am an avid orchestral and chamber musician. I also enjoy playing bluegrass music on violin and mandolin, improvising with contemporary ensembles on my electric violin, and teaching myself to play folk harp. I am a violinist in the Bremerton Symphony and past member of the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra, the Portage Bay Philharmonic, the Washington University Symphony, the Seattle Youth Symphony and award-winning Roosevelt High School Chamber Orchestra. I also direct a choir, sing in a women's vocal ensemble and make occasional presentations on the violin to elementary students. I just love music and try to communicate my enthusiasm for learning to my students!
As a violin teacher, I encourage my students to prepare to join local ensembles for maximum application and enjoyment of the skills they attain in private lessons.

I have been taking violin lessons from Jane Melin for almost a year. She is extremely talented, patient and makes the learning process interesting and fun. I haven't always been diligent about practicing but Jane keeps me on track and suggests a variety of music to make it fun.
I highly recommend taking violin lessons from her. She's the best!

Review of Violin Instruction, November 20, 2008
My son has been taking lessons from Jane for a few months now and she is a fantastic teacher. Aaron is 7 years old and a bit on the hyper side yet Jane has the patience to teach him each week. Aarons love for music is growing week by week. As a parent her curriculm is top notch and keeps the child's attention. Jane makes learning fun and exciting! You can find no better teacher in Kitsap County
