I love coaching students of all ages who want to become confident and happy bicycle riders. My step-by-step methods make learning to bike -- or bike better -- fun and easy to understand. I offer three levels of lessons, from the most basic (balancing and pedaling) all the way up to the street cycling skills you need to make biking to work or school enjoyable.

Even though I own a car, I enjoy using my own bicycles, combined with the San Francisco Bay Area's many bike-on-transit options, for most of my solo transportation needs. I can do this confidently because I'm sure of my bike handling skills and I know just where to position my bike between and through intersections. Bicycle Solutions coaching is all about sharing that knowledge with you, my student. I've been using bicycles to get from point A to point B ever since my teenage years, when I ranged far and wide on the streets and roads around where I lived near Washington D.C. Even earlier, as a kid in elementary school, I used a big blue Schwinn with a huge front basket to deliver newspapers in my neighborhood -- those were the days!

I've been a bicycling instructor for 16 years, and I'm one of just a few instructors throughout the U.S. who specialize in teaching brand-new adult riders (I teach kids too). I have taught over 300 first-time bicyclists since 2001, usually at least one every week. I am certified through the League of American Bicyclists "Smart Cycling" program -- I'm League Cycling Instructor number 453.
