I got started on cars late in life. I was always interested, but too intimidated to learn about cars. I started taking classes at the local college and discovered that I really enjoy working on cars and I wanted to go further than standing in the driveway handing tools to some else.
I was accepted to the Automotive Program and I started in the Engine Repair and Rebuilding class. I had very little knowledge of the tools or how to use them or which way the bolts turned, but I caught on pretty quick!
I built an awesome drag race car. I worked in shops while I was in school, earned ASE and smog certifications, won a bunch of scholarships and began offering classes for women through the local Parks and Recreation departments. After I graduated, I was offered a teaching position at Skyline College!
I teach Fundamentals of Automotive Technology, Car Care Basics for Women, Service Orienation and have recently organized Skyline's first Vintage Car Technology class.
I am always interested in offering new classes - if there's something that you'd like to learn more about, please let me know.
