Kate Long's Profile

Kate’s songwriting is part of a life centered around words and music in many forms. She has won national awards for her writing, radio production, songwriting, newspaper stories, and video editing. She is the writing coach for The Charleston Gazette and produces for West Virginia Public Broadcasting, She hosted and produced the national award-winning In Their Own Country public radio series.

She often combines performances with a creative writing or singing workshop. She has taught songwriting at writing camps such as the Swannanoa Gathering, the Augusta Heritage Center, the Appalachian Writers Conference at Hindman Settlement School, the West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts.

She performs solo or with fellow fiddletunes.com artist, guitar master Robin Kessinger. They have recorded a live album together.
