My poems and short stories have appeared in Appalachian Heritage, Calapooya, CutThroat, Orbis, Pearl, Poetry East, South Dakota Review, The Lyric, and other journals. I won the Hemingway Festival Short Story Contest 2008 and have recently been a finalist for Glimmer Train awards four times. I placed third in the latest Rick De Marinis Short Fiction Award and was a finalist in the 2009 Writers Studio Literary Contest. My short story collection was a semifinalist for the Iowa Short Fiction Award and my poetry collection was a semifinalist for the Crab Orchard Series in Poetry. I hold an MFA from Naropa University and am past associate editor for Bombay Gin, Naropa's literary magazine. I have taught at Front Range Community College and New Vista High School.
