    Triathlon Clinics

    KCho, May 06, 2008

Mary Meyer triathlon clinics are perfect for everyone ranging from those new to the sport (like I was when I attended her clinics) to seasoned triathletes looking to hone their skills (like my triathlete friends who introduced me to these classes). Mary and her staff are great coaches and take a hands-on approah to learning. For me, the best way to learn is to do, and each clinic I attended featured a full workout incorporating at least 2 of the triathlon sports with practice transitioning from one to the next. Also should mention the clinics are super fun -- it's always a great, positive group of people. I went to the first one solo and was a little nervous but felt very welcome by staff and the group of participants.

Review of: Mary Meyer Life Fitness

    KCho, April 26, 2008

It's been a while (over 5 years...eesh!) since I've done any triathlon training but I attended several of Mary Meyer's triathlon clinics and had a great experience. I was new to cycling and a terrible swimmer when I started training with Mary and through her clinics was able to get comfortable (enough, anyway) with both to do a bunch of sprint tris and one olympic successfully. The best clinics were the mini brick workouts that she holds near seward park involving a lake swim, bike ride, and run.

    Bikram

    KCho, April 26, 2008

I had a great experience at this yoga studio. The studio is small and the room was not crowded like some of the other larger studios. With fewer people in the class, the instructor was able to provide individual instruction/form corrections to all of us in the class. If you find bikram to be a little intimidating, this is a great place to start. It's kind of a haul out to Laurelhurst (it's very close to UVillage) if you don't live up there but I will definitely make my way back there. No showers. Parking is a breeze.

Review of: Bikram Yoga at the Sweatbox

    KCho, April 26, 2008

I took this bikram class for the first time last week and had a very good experience. The instructor was helpful and welcoming at sign-in and the class was well paced. The class was taught with a microphone...which seemed kinda unyoga-like....but as a novice it was nice to hear all instructions clearly. I gave 4 stars vs. 5 because the changing rooms are very small (resulting in a line to get in after class) and there were no shower facilities. I definitely plan to go back to the Sweatbox.
